The Sandy Creek Ranch and Research Park has developed a Test Center in response to the increasing need for effective security and energy technology. The Sandy Creek Test Center is an independent installation evaluation and testing center specializing in physical security and alternative energy equipment and systems including failure analysis of failed systems.
Emphasis currently is on new technology equipment to provide protection against terrorism. Likewise, the high demand and reduced supply of fossil fuels worldwide creates a need for new technology non-fossil fuel energy sources.
The Test Center is located in an isolated area east of San Diego, California, surrounded by the Cleveland National Forest. The secluded location is relatively free of radio signals and other effects that could adversely affect test criteria. Close proximity to the Pacific Ocean, the U.S./Mexico border, and the desert allows easy access for specialty testing.
The test site consists of 64 acres including approximately 40 acres of flat test area, 1-1/2 miles of test track with steep slope roadway segments and a year-round creek with ponds for waterside testing. Available on site are a fiber-optic internet connection, a fiber-optic communications backbone, and a Programmable Logic Control (PLC) command and control system.
