Thumper is a short-range less-lethal kinetic energy weapon system. It was designed to provide law enforcement personnel the means to subdue and apprehend an unruly, combative individual by using a less-than-lethal level of force. For example, to subdue an individual armed with a knife or a makeshift weapon, the officer can fire Thumper’s 19mm projectile, producing pain and gaining compliance without fatally injuring the suspect. Because of the short-range capability of the 19mm system, the risk of hitting and injuring a bystander is minimal. In a domestic dispute situation, the projectile will not penetrate a wall to possibly injure a person in another room.
